This is one of those photos that I feel like I will never forget taking.
As we were walking through the village with Healing Faith hanging mosquito nets in the homes and talking with the villagers we came upon this homestead.
This little love, he looked like he was around 5 or 6 years old was sitting with his younger brother who was around 3 years old. He was scaling and gutting fish. Guys, this was clearly not his first time, he was so experienced. I tell ya, I don’t think I could do what he did with such ease.
He cleaned 8 fish while we watched him. At times he was working simply with muscle memory because he was watching us, probably wondering why we were standing over him watching him work.
He never said a word. He just worked, solidly preparing dinner. Then he cleaned off his hands and started working with the cassava. I have a video, I’ll post it too…
It’s true that they say a picture paints a thousand words, and that every single one has a story. Part of the reason I am taking my time to go through the photos is because it’s honestly a little hard on my heart to look through them for a long period of time. I start feeling a little down and just craving going back, but a big part of it is because I want to tell the story associated with them, one by one. I feel like it’s my job to tell their story.
